Case 40:  

· C/O:- pt complains of growth in lower front region since 2 months and slowly increased to present size of 2 x1.5 cms.
· On examination:- Firm, non-tender lesion measuring about 2 x1.5 cms, fixed to overlying edentulous oral mucosa. Pt gives history of denture wearing since last 10 years.
· Nature of Biopsy: Excisional
· Provisional Diagnosis: Fibrous Epulis
· Histologic features: the mass was composed of predominantly spindle shaped cells arranged in various patterns. The lesion is partially encapsulated but well demarcated from overlying atrophic/ stretched oral mucosa (pics 1 & 2). Normal hyperplasic oral epithelium was also evident in few areas (pic 3). In many areas, traumatic neuroma like proliferations of neural tissue with wavy, elongated, nuclei arranged in swirls and haphazardly were noted (pics 4 & 5). Antoni A, Verocay bodies of Schwannoma were seen in the same case.
